Answer

Welcome to Ask Pat,

It sounds like you are feeling scared about what is happening regarding the coronavirus. It is understandable that you miss your friends and your grandparents. It is also understandable that you are feeling that these times are strange and that you just want things to go back to the way there were. You also mention that you feel lonely and you want to know what to do to help you to feel better.

Our Childline website, www.childline.ie has further information that you may find helpful, in the section called ‘Info and Advice’ there is a section called ‘How I feel’, you might find it useful to see what information is there. We also have information about Covid-19 and about other supports that could be available to you.

You have a right to get support around this, to talk about your worries and how you are feeling. You have a right to talk to an adult that you trust about things you can do to combat feeling lonely in these times and to look at what you can do to keep in contact with your friends and family.

If you feel you are unsure who you can talk to then you are very welcome to chat to us about what is going on for you by contacting Childline on 1800 66 66 66, or you can text us on 50101, or you can talk to us on our webchat service that can be found on www.childline.ie.

Take care,
Pat.
