Could I have autism
I feel like I’m autistic, but I don’t know how to tell anyone. I’ve done months of research.
We are really glad you reached out to Ask Alex with your thoughts and feelings. It’s completely okay to have moments where you question yourself and your identity. Understanding your emotions and who you are is an important part of growing up. It’s also wonderful that you’ve taken the initiative to research and learn more about your feelings.
If you’re feeling like you might be autistic, it’s important to remember that this is just one part of who you are. Your unique qualities and abilities make you special, no matter what. However, it is very important to get a professional diagnosis. You can go to your GP and they will be able to guide you to getting that assessment. You could also consider reaching out to support services like asiam.ie/. They can provide you with information, guidance, and resources to better understand what you’re experiencing.
You don’t have to go through this journey on your own, and it’s great that you’ve taken the first step by reaching out here. The Childline Team is here for you whenever you’re ready. You can contact us 24 hours a day at 1800 66 66 66 or through Live Chat at www.Childline.ie. We are a confidential service, which means that whatever you say to us, stays between you and us. We do not use caller ID nor do we see your IP address, so it is a safe place for you to chat.
Remember, you are never alone, and there are people who care about you and can support you telling your family and through your diagnosis.
Take care of yourself, we look forward to chatting with you sometime soon.
