Can you report anonymously online

Your Question

Can u report annomusly on line

Hey there, thanks reaching out to Ask Alex

Thank you for asking about anonymous reporting. Yes, you can report crimes or other incidents anonymously, however, it is important to remember that the more information you are able to provide, the better. This allows the appropriate services to respond to the report and offer the best protection and support possible.

You can give information relating to a crime or other activities in an anonymous way by contacting the Garda Confidential Number on  1800 666 111. By sharing any information you have about a crime or incident, you can help An Garda Síochána solve crimes and potentially prevent future crimes from taking place.

If you are a victim of crime or a witness to one, you should report this to An Garda Síochána as soon as possible. We understand that it can be very difficult to report an incident, but An Garda Síochána have specially trained staff who are there to listen, give you guidance and support and treat you with dignity and respect.

Remember you are not alone. There are people around you that would be happy to support you through the reporting process. You may find it helpful to talk to a trusted adult about your concerns around reporting an incident. This could be a parent, aunt/uncle, cousin, friend, or youth worker.

You are always welcome to chat with Childline through our webchat service, by clicking on the purple Messenger circle at our free phone service is 1800 66 66 66. Our non-judgemental, anonymous, supportive listening service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our trained volunteers will also be able to guide you through the reporting process, if you do not feel comfortable talking to An Garda Síochána.  Remember, there are always people who care about you and want to support you.

Take care of yourself, and reach out to those who can provide the support you need
