Thank you for contacting us, we’re glad you were able to get in touch to ask your question.   

It sounds like you are wondering if it is okay if you type out curse words while using the Ask Alex service or when chatting with our Childline Listening service. Yes, you can use curse words while talking to Alex or the people at Childline, if that is how you express yourself. Here at Childline, we believe it is a great thing for young people (and adults too!) to share their thoughts and feelings. We also want you to know that Childline is a safe space where you are free to express yourself without fear of judgement or being told what to do.  

Remember, you can always contact Childline to talk about what is going on for you; no problem is too big or too small. In fact, you don’t even need to have a “problem”, you can get in touch to discuss your favourite hobby, band, tv show or to talk about your pet, an award you won or something you’ve done lately that makes you proud of yourself! We are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can reach our web chat service through www.childline.ie, our text service can be reached on 50101 or you are welcome to give us a call on 1800 66 66 66. We will not tell you what to do and we are here to listen to and support you, and to help you to explore the options that are available to you in your life.
