Can I see a therapist for free?

Your Question

Can I get a free therapist?

Answer

Hi there,

You’re welcome to ask Alex.

So, you have asked us if you can get a free therapist. Well done in taking the first step and looking for some support for yourself. This shows both self-awareness and courage, terrific qualities to have as a person!

Here at the ISPCC, we have a one-to-one service with professionals called Childline Therapeutic Support Workers for young people wanting to build their emotional resilience and talk about what is going on for them. This service is free of charge. Please see the website link https://www.ispcc.ie/child-and-family-support-services/ to find out a little more on the service.

We also have a digital anxiety management programme for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. The Space From Anxiety programme is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and includes mindfulness practices. It can be accessed via any smart device at a time that suits you best and comes with the guidance of a Supporter (trained ISPCC team member) who supports you as you work through the programme. You can learn more about this service if you go to our website.

Thanks for getting in touch with us today and if you ever want to Ask Alex anything, please just leave a message. We are here to listen to you and offer you information and support.

If your question is urgent, or you would like to talk privately, you can contact Childline for free by chatting online via our webchat service at www.childline.ie, by texting 50101 or by calling 1800 66 66 66. We are available 24 hours a day, every day.

Take care,

Alex.
