Alex's Answer

When do ambulance personel contact the Gardaí

Your Question

Why do ambulance personnel inform garda after a call out

Answer

Hi there and welcome to Ask Alex,

You are wondering why ambulance personnel inform the Gardaí after a call out.

Ambulance staff will usually send Gardaí with the ambulance if they are concerned for the safety of the paramedics or if someone has died. That being said, if drugs are involved, it is likely that Gardaí will be called to attend with the ambulance too.

Here are some other instances where the ambulance service will inform Gardaí of their call-out:
– There is suspicion a crime has been committed.
– Entry may need to be forced to gain access.
– The patient may be a danger to themselves or others (mental health).
– The patient may be a danger to the ambulance crew.
