Answer

Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. It’s perfectly normal to feel uncertain or even frustrated when you can’t access the support you need in a way that feels comfortable for you. We understand that having a space to ask awkward or personal questions anonymously can be very important, and it’s understandable why you might feel disappointed if that service isn’t available.

While we can’t speak about services in other countries, we can tell you about our service here in Ireland. Ask Alex is an Irish-based service where young people can come to for support. Maybe there is another service in the UK where you can safely ask questions while still maintaining your animosity? Many regions have support services tailored to the needs of young people, so it’s a good idea to explore what’s out there.

Our Childline service in Ireland offers both a freephone service and a webchat service for emotional support. Although our freephone service is only available within Ireland, you can still use our webchat service to talk to someone about what you’re going through. Our webchat service is designed to be a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share your feelings and get support without having to worry about being embarrassed or judged. You do not need to log in or set up an account to use this service.

Remember, the Childline Ireland Team is here 24 hours a day, every day. Our service is confidential, and we’re here to support you, no matter what you’re facing. However, we would not be able to guide you to local support services as we would not be aware what services you have in the UK.

You are never alone; we are always here to listen, and help you explore your options. Take care, and don’t hesitate to reach out whenever you need us or have a question.

Best wishes,
Alex
