As a girl, do I have to wear a panty liner every day?
Hi there, welcome to Ask Pat and thank you for your question.
You have asked if you, as a girl, have to wear a pantyliner every day.
Pantyliners are lighter pads used to absorb everyday vaginal discharge, unexpected light period flow, light spotting, staining at the beginning and ends of periods, and post-intercourse discharge.
Vaginal discharge is normal and happens for a variety of reasons throughout the menstrual cycle (keeping the vagina lubricated, ovulation, and arousal, to name a few). On one hand, wearing a pantyliner can be helpful for keeping underwear dry and free from stains. On the other hand, they can trigger labia redness, irritation and itching. You can find more information about pantyliners here: https://flo.health/menstrual-cycle/lifestyle/hygiene-and-beauty/panty-liners.
Some women will find them useful, others won’t; some will always wear them, other would only use them at certain times or not at all. As it is your body, you have the right to decide if you want to use pantyliners or not, depending on whether you need them and feel comfortable wearing them. It is your choice and no one else’s.
