Everyone experiences different feelings and emotions on different days and at different moments.

Understanding how we feel

Everyone experiences feelings and emotions. Some days we might feel good and other days we might feel sad, angry or confused. 

Our feelings can help to guide and protect us. Talking about our feelings can help us to understand them.

Some days we might have questions such as:

  • What am I feeling?
  • Why am I feeling like this?
  • How is this feeling affecting my body?
  • How long have I felt this way?
  • How does it feel inside my head?
  • Have I more than one feeling?

 

Coping with feelings and emotions

You might experience many different feelings as you grow up. You might feel happy, angry, sad, confused, lonely, frustrated or upset. 

There are just some ways we can cope with our emotions:

Talking

Walking, running, dancing, or any other kind of exercise, can help us to feel good.

Drawing, painting, colouring, or writing a story or diary can help us to express and understand our feelings.

Having a bath, listening to some good music or cuddling a pet are just some activities that can help us to feel good.
