Social Workers

Social Workers work with individuals, families, groups, and organisations.  In Ireland, the child protection social work services provide a wide range or childcare and family support services.Child Protection and Social Work Services are in place to provide support to children who are not receiving adequate care and protection.  If you are being hurt or are not being cared for properly, you can contact the Social Worker in your area. If you ring 1850 24 1850 and ask for the office in your area, you will be given the number.

Under the Children First Guidelines, the health board is responsible to assess and manage child protection concerns.  This means if you are not safe that that the health board is obliged to look into a report that a child is being harmed.
