Who gets abused?

Abuse can happen to anyone. There’s no one type of person who gets abused.  Sometimes it can be hard for people to realise that they are being abused, and you might think it’s just the way things are, or that you cause the abuse to happen by acting up, but it’s important that if you think something is wrong that you are able to talk about what’s going on with someone you trust.

Abuse is not the fault of the person who is being hurt and nobody ever has the right to abuse anyone else.  It can be hard to talk about abuse if it’s happening to you, but you do have the right to talk about it.  You might feel comfortable talking aobut it when someone you trust, but if you’re not sure and would like to ring Childline we are here 24 hours a day every day at 1800 66 66 66.
