A GP is someone you go to if you need medical advice or treatment. Your family doctor or a GP might or might not be able to help you in confidence (in other words they may or may not tell your parents).
In general, parental consent is required for children to have medical and surgical test and procedures. Once you are 16 you are legally allowed to consent to your own treatment; however, doctors are encouraged to consider the interests of the parents or guardians with anyone under the age of 18.
