What Should I Eat?

Eating well and getting the right vitamins and minerals helps you have the energy to do all the things you enjoy, whether that’s playing sport, reading books or being with your friends and family.

People talk a lot about eating a balanced diet and it can be difficult to know what that means. Taking an interest in what you eat is a start to find out what you should be eating, and how to keep your body healthy. 

Some kids cook at home or take a course in school about cooking and nutrition.  If there is a course like this in your school it might be a good place to start learning about healthy diets.  Other people hate cooking and instead need to plan their meals and think about different things to eat to make sure they have enough energy and get enough vitamins and minerals.  If you are finding it hard to know what to eat and how to make sure you are healthy it might be helpful for you to ask someone you trust about where you can find more information.

You might have some ideas already about where you can find out information or you might find it easy to talk to your parents or a teacher that you trust.  It is important that you eat enough of the healthy food to give your body the fuel it needs. Not eating enough food, or eating too much of the wrong foods might affect how your body works and you feel about yourself.
