First read and agree to our safety tips for using Childline Online.
- If you need to speak to someone straight away please call Childline on tel. 1800 66 66 66. The phone service is still the quickest way to talk to Childline.
- Choose a nickname and password to talk with us that no one else knows so that you can stay anonymous. Tell us straight away if someone knows your nickname.
- Be careful not to write anything that could help someone figure out who you are or where you live, like giving your real name, address or naming your friends or teachers or school – unless you want Childline to pass your information onto someone who can help you.
- If you're not safe, and you tell us where you are, we will pass your details on to someone who can help, like the gardai or a social worker. Remember it's always up to you whether or not you tell us where you are.
- Don't name individuals or say anything that is not true about another person.
- Keep your password private. Don't give it to anyone, not even a trusted friend.
- Childline might have to edit your message to make sure that it is safe to post on the website.
- Remember that lots of other children and young people will be reading your message on the public notice board. To help keep other kids safe, Childline will not post messages on the website that are rude, crude, racist or threatening.
- Messages that are okay to be posted will appear on the notice board with a response within 4 days.
- Messages to Childline Online are answered by staff and volunteers who have been trained to listen to children and young people.
- If you have any questions about stuff on this page call Childline on tel. 1800 66 66 66
