Hi Jessie the bestie,

Welcome to Childline. We see this is your first time using our service so we will tell you a little about how Childline Online works. We are a listening service for young people up to 18 years of age and are here to support you by listening to you. We listen to your thoughts and feelings about what is going on for you, and also explore what you might like to see happen for yourself.

We don’t tell you what to do as we may we wrong but we can help you to come up with some options which might work for you. It will always be your choice as to how much you would like to talk to us and about what you would like to talk about. It is important to stick to first names and not mention where you live or go to school as this also helps to keep your chat private.

A lot of young people contact us every day for a lot of different reasons and we can understand that at times if can be difficult to talk, so you can take things at your own pace. Like we mentioned earlier, we are here to listen and support you and we would never judge anything you say to us.

Everyone in Childline is trained the same and are all here for you in whatever way you may need the service.

We have our messaging service which you are currently on. We also have live services if you feel like chatting some evening; text Talk to 50101 for our Text service or log on for a live one to one web chat through the website. These are open Monday and Tuesday from 6-10pm and Wednesday to Sunday from 2pm to 10pm.
