Pregnancy

What Next?

If you think you could be pregnant and are not planning a pregnancy, you might be worried and scared.  You might have missed a period or had unprotected sex or feel sick.  It’s important that you know the only way to know if you are pregnant is to go see your local doctor or visit a clinic to take a test.

You might want to start by getting a home pregnancy test.  You might be scared of what you’ll find out, but it’s better to know sooner.  Home pregnancy tests are available at most pharmacies.  They are not 100% accurate so it might be a good idea to visit your doctor if you are still unsure.  There are a lot of places you can go for a pregnancy test and for confidential advice.

Women who take home pregnancy tests often go to clinics to have the results confirmed by a doctor or nurse.  If you know you are pregnant it is important that you discuss your choices with someone straight away. They can talk to you about your options and someone to talk to you who has no opinion on what is best for you and is there to help and will respect your decision whatever that is.
