Finding Help

If You Have A Problem

Whether you have a big problem or a small one, you have the right to talk about what’s going on for you with someone that you trust.  It can be really hard to know who to talk to if you’re worried about something or if someone is hurting you and you want that to stop.  Also, some things are really embarrassing to talk about and it’s understandable that you might find it difficult to know what to say and who to say it to.

Here in Childline, we are answering phone calls 24 hours a day and every day.  If you call you might have to wait a little while, but we will answer your call.  We’re here to listen to you! If you don’t have a problem, you’re welcome to ring just for a chat, and if you do have a problem, you’re welcome to ring and talk to us about it as well.

If you think you need help with something and don’t know where to turn, someone will always be here in Childline to talk with you about what’s going on and talk with you about what YOU want to happen.  If you do want to talk to someone you know in your own life, your mum or dad or granny or a teacher, we can help you practice what to say and figure out how and when to talk to that person.

In Childline we’ll never give out to you or tell you what to do.  We think you’re the most important person on the call and we believe everything you say. We’ve written below some of the people who work every day to help young people.  If you’d like to ring us the number is free and we don’t have caller id, it’s 1800 66 66 66.
