Getting through the death of a family member, friend, or even a pet can take time and it can be difficult for one to endure alone. Sometimes people die of old age and sometimes younger people die. A person might get really sick or die suddenly, like in an accident. This may be the hardest kind of death for families and friends to deal with because it happens so fast. It’s important you know it’s not your fault that this happened and you still have people around who care about you.
You might want to ask about some things you don’t understand, like where people go after they die. It’s important for you to have someone you can talk to about these things. This might be your parents, a teacher, a neighbour, or even a friend. People have different beliefs about what happens after someone dies.
When someone dies, you might start to wonder if the other people in your life will also die soon. You might wonder, "Will my mom or dad die?" or "Will I die?" It might help to share these thoughts with your friends or family.
We know it can be difficult even painful to talk about these things, but it can feel good to share your feelings. You have the right to express you opinion and gets support around what’s happening in your life.
